    Looks good John.

Can you explain to me the various versions of the cruiser. I have seen H39 J39 there is the 47 and I think more.
    Thanks

You must have put your thinking hat down somewhere Ken
from 1931 FB allocated year letters to their machines and the model number was pre-fixed by the year letter so :-
    H39 would be year letter ( H=1938) Model No (39) a F39 would be a model 39 from 1936, G39 a model 39 from 1937 etc. etc.

Yes you told me that last time but didn’t explain. I get it now. Is there anything apart from the frame number to determine if it’s auto lubrication?

    Regards Ken

1938 Cruiser 39 for sale Empty frame/engine No.

The Frame No. will never determine whether it is Petroil or Auto-lube, the frame will be the same, generally the Model 39 was auto-lube and the model 45 Petroil although there is some cross over
Villiers coded the 14A engine as BY and BYP where P is petroil, similary for SOS and Excelsior they coded them with a W for Water cooled, but without an engine if you just have the frame headstock ( i have 2 or 3 spare ones) you cannot determine whether it was a 39 or 45 as there are no factory records
