Plover Log Book. Empty Plover Log Book.

    Hello All.

I have been enjoying a Falcon 58 for many years now.

Now I have just bought my second Francis Barnett, a Plover.

The trader who I bought the Plover from didn’t have a log book, so I need to apply for one.

The DVLA has advised two forms; V765 and V55/5, I have printed out both.

V765 looks like it needs to involve the Owners Club and V55/5 has lots of boxes to fill in with all kinds of information I’m not sure about.

Can anyone please advise on the best way to get a log book?

    Thank you in advance.

If the registration number is showing on the DVLA web site https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ then you just need to fill in a V62 form https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/781426/v62-application-for-a-registration-certificate.pdf and send it with the fee of £25. If the number is not showing and you have an old RF60 log book or a document showing both frame and registration number then you use the V765 form. If you dont have proof of frame number and registration number together on one document (a tax disc alone is no longer acceptable to DVLA) then you will need to apply for an age related number using the V55/5 form

    Hello John.
    Thanks for responding.
The link to the DVLA website says "Vehicle details could not be found". So looks like V55/5 needs to be filled out.

Iain. John Harding (Piston197) of this forum is the club dating officer and also a great bloke to deal with & will help you every step of the way. He did with my Falcon 81 even though it was not known when I checked with DVLA because of his help I managed to get the original reg no. It may not work with your bike ? But John's Help made things a lot easier than I would have found otherwise.

Yes that looks like the course of action, but its worth contacting DVLA first to see if the reg No is on their archived records. A lot of numbers were removed from records in 1980's and archived if vehicles had not been taxed. If the bike has not been taxed after 1979 its unlikely to have ever been put on DVLA record and never issued with a V5.

    Hello Kev.
    Thank you for your message.
Yes, I've just spoken to John and he was very helpful.
I'm going to try the V62 route first.
Just need to work out the frame number on a very rusty plate Smile
    Cheers
    Iain.
