Hi Folks,
Yesterday evening I was invited to take part in the local St. Patrick's day parade. I was out to the shed early to prepare the Cruiser 80. It wouldn't start. It would run for a few seconds before dying. My first thought was that there was an ignition problem. Cleaned the points, changed the plug, great spark but no improvement.Drained the tank, got new petrol and she started first kick. Have just returned from the parade, where I had to slip the clutch over the two-mile circuit. The Cruiser behaved impeccably.Modern petrol has a very short shelf-life, particularly if two-stroke oil has been added.we have encountered the same problem with two-stroke microlight engines.

Agreed. I seem to be diluting the old fuel each year into my garden machinery. I'm sure my lawnmower enjoys the little bit of mix every now and again, it certainly smells better cutting the lawn Very Happy

My mate who has a Manx Norton gave me his old R40 oil. I mix just a little with my lawn mower petrol. Smells good when doing the grass.
